Shabbat Mode is a free tool from Quick Fix Appliance Repair (Monroe, NY) that shows the steps to turn Sabbath mode on and off for home appliances. This policy explains what information the app and website handle. In short: there are no accounts, no ads, and we do not ask for your name, email, phone number or precise location.

What we collect

• What you search for. When you search, the model number or words you type are sent to our server to find the instructions. We keep a log of searches (the search text, the time, and whether instructions were found) so we can improve results and see which appliances people look for.
• Approximate location. We log the approximate city a search came from (for example "Monroe, NY"), based on the network address; no exact location. Our hosting provider gives our server the approximate city, state/region and country of each request, and we store only those with the search log, to see where the app is used. The city can be off, especially on mobile networks. We do not store your IP address itself (only a scrambled code used to limit abuse), we do not use GPS, and we do not ask for location permission.
• Basic usage events. We record simple actions such as opening a result, watching a video, downloading a PDF or sharing the app, with the time and approximate location.
• Technical data. We store whether the request came from a phone or a computer, and a one-way scrambled (hashed) code made from the IP address, used only to count repeat visits. We do not store the IP address itself.

We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, contacts, photos, payment details or precise location, and we do not build profiles of individual people.

Stored only on your phone

The appliances you save under "My Appliances" are kept only on your own device. They are not sent to us. Deleting the app or clearing its data removes them.

How we use it

Only to run and improve Shabbat Mode: to answer searches, keep popular answers ready, fix wrong or missing instructions, and understand how much the app is used. We do not sell or rent any information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Services we use

• Our website and database are hosted on a cloud provider, which processes requests on our behalf.
• To find instructions for a model we have not seen before, our server sends the search text (never anything about you) to web search and AI services.
• When a result includes a video, it is played from YouTube, which may collect information under Google's own privacy policy.
• Manual PDFs and links may open pages on manufacturers' websites, which have their own policies.

Security and retention

All traffic to and from the app uses encrypted HTTPS connections. Search and usage logs are kept for as long as they are useful for improving the app and are then deleted. Because the logs contain no names or contact details, we cannot link them to a specific person.

Children

Shabbat Mode is meant for adults managing household appliances. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Your choices

You can use the app without giving any personal information. If you have a question about this policy or want us to delete a search you made, email us and tell us roughly what you searched and when.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top.
